I had just finished exploring Mount St. Helens in 1999 when I was interviewed by Rachel Azevedo of KOHD TV news in Bend Oregon. Rachel asked me if I would agree to take several people up the mountain to explore the volcano. Little did I know that I would actually be guiding a group of extreme skiers up the summit with the dreams of being the first to ski a volcano?

This group of skiers was comprised of Joel Hatcher, inventor and designer of HotFire Equipment and Clothing, Dr. Lori Azevedo of International Travel Medical Clinic, stationed in Nicaragua, Central America, Alyce Murillo, International Travel Enthusiast and Adventures, and me, Juliardi Soo. Together we founded and originated the sport of Xtreme Volcano Surfing.
